Now that's a comeback

The strange part - I remember Robert Downey Sr. first before Jr. ... yah not sure why that is.. I remember Sr. being on some talk show which i would watch all the time and I cannot remember the name. Anyhow, this blog is concentrated on Robert Downey, Jr. which I remember from that movie Weird Science. He was a pretty big deal in the 80's (Im not a huge fan of that decade) and in the early nineties.
Then somewhere between 1996-2004....he completely fell of his path. Or maybe it was his path, it was definately his trials. From wikipedia:

1996 until 2001 Downey was arrested numerous times on drug-related charges and went several times through drug treatment programs unsuccessfully, explaining in 1999 to a judge: "It's like I have a loaded gun in my mouth and my finger's on the trigger, and I like the taste of the gunmetal". He also explained his relapses by claiming to be addicted to drugs since the age of eight, In April 1996 Downey was arrested for possession of heroin, cocaine and an unloaded .357-caliber Magnum, while he was speeding downSunset Boulevard. A month later, when on parole, he trespassed into a neighbor's home while under the influence of a controlled substance, falling asleep in one of the beds. He was sentenced to three years of probation and required to undergo mandatory drug testing. In 1997 he missed one of the court-ordered drug tests and had to spend four months in the Los Angeles County jail. The same happened in 1999, only this time he had to spend nearly a year in a state prison in Corcoran,California when he was released on $5,000 bail. For his 1999 defense, Downey's lawyer assembled the same team of lawyers that successfully defended O. J. Simpson during his criminal trial for murder.

Long list of trials, eh? How ironic that Hollywood did not toss him out and to the side as trash. Even when he came out from jail, it was only a week until they gave him a role on Sex and the City. Look at him now, you can tell just from his appearance the change he has made, i've notice him smile more than ever and the roles he has taken on have definately showcased his talent: Iron Man, Incredible Hulk, Tropic Thunder those are just recent titles... he's having fun now, im really in awe with him because that is a tremendous come back. I think his talent is under appreciated. If Downey did not stray, I'd make the stance to say that he would definately be on the same level that Johnny Depp has achieved, definately. Hey they were both 80's kids!

I really pray he continues because its been a long time coming for him. He attributes his success to family, yoga, meditation and therapy..All that self inflicting suffering, its a real ugly situation to hear about, much less go through.

Old Green Eyes

Ok i must admit, after seeing the first Hulk which was directed by Ang Lee (Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon) I was really turned off at the idea that another Hulk movie was coming out. I mean the CGI in the first Hulk was horrible and no lie I slept during that movie at the theater. hand in the popcorn tub. death by popcorn. yes. I will give credit to the fact that it did make it seem like you were actually reading a comic book with the zoom, wipes, split screens and boxing up the hero's actions. c'mon though, hulk was way too cartoonish. so yah i kept hearing about the Incredible Hulk movie coming out again and yes I let it roll right off of my shoulders. UNTIL ....No, no. Don't play with my emotions!! Edward Norton in the new Hulk movie?!!! OMG. damn my eyes must have turned a shade lighter as well. Count me in. Movie came out on Friday the 20th and I was there Saturday morning the 21st.. I took my dad with me to watch.
Talk about bringing back the Incredible Hulk! Kudos to the director Louis Leterrer because the CGI in this movie was intricate and Edward Norton did a remarkable job in portraying the inner conflict of Bruce Banner. I suggest you go out and watch this Marvel Movie, since I dont want to ruin it for you. The intro explains the story behind the Hulk which is good for those unfamiliar with this comic. The infamous Lou Ferrigno makes a cameo and towards the end you have the talented Robert Downey Jr. come in for about a minute to leave you with the idea that there will definately be a sequel.
My dad really had a good time watching this movie. I said "so dad, whatcha think?" he goes "wow, that was loud" hahhahahah of course all this while he goes to grab a free hulk movie poster they were handing out as a promotion. He talked about the movie all weekend since we went to chill with my aunts and Uncles for father's day. So my final review: definate must see! i've yet to check out Iron Man.. but I will blog on Robert Downey Jr. next....
